My upstairs neighbour is selling their flat and the buyers solicitors have requested me to send my passport through the post as proof of identification. Im sure that this is all legal but I'm not comfortable with it. Also should there be solicitors present when signing this kinds of documents, as I've just been presented documents by the seller from the buyer.

    Hi,

The solicitors need to confirm to the Land Registry that they have identified you in order to get the transfer registered, that's why they need your passport. There doesn't need to be a solicitor present when you sign the transfer deed.
