• Purchasing A Property With Brand New Lease, Process For Approvals - Stages Of Buyer Involvement & Consultation Clarity Needed

By Guest on 12th Jan 2023

In the process of purchasing a property, when a brand new lease is drawn up (flat within converted house). In this process, are approvals of the lease or drafts of the lease to be consulted with the buyer (me) prior to stating approval to the sellers solicitors? Or does this happen between solicitors only?

I received a lease with a request to review and sign - although communication had been given to the seller’s solicitor that the lease was approved a month prior to me seeing it. Can you let me know if this is standard or if there was a break down in process? In this case, the property had no lease prior to (a the whole house - now consisting of two converted flats was owned by one individual, the seller), so the purchase involved a brand new lease from the seller.
