• Property Sale No Deeds

By Guest on 12th May 2019

My cousin died intestate and his house was not transferred to him when his mother Died intestate in 2016. I can not locate deeds. I have the original signed and executed assent dated 1979 transferring property from his grandmother to his parents who both died prior to my cousin. His grandparents bought the property in 1954 and additional land in 1957, I have all original documents. What do I need to do to be able to sell property? Many thanks Dave

    A conveyancer.

I would advise an application for ownership based on lost title deeds if possible otherwise the property has potentially become property of the Crown and you would need to contact its Bona Vacantia division to re-purchase it. Often they will sell it at market value so you would not make any money on the sale; the former option therefore is your best option if possible.
