• Higher Rate Of SDLT

By Guest on 26th Jan 2025

I own two properties, a flat which is rented out and a cottage which I live in. I paid the higher rate of SDLT when I bought the cottage. I am soon to marry. My finance owns a house. We want to sell the cottage and his house and buy just one property between us. If I sell my cottage and move into his before we sell his and move into our new home, will we have to pay the higher rate of SDLT because I own the flat? Or will we not, because we're moving from our main home(s) into another main residence?
