What does UKFML 5.8.1 mean. I’m in the final stages of getting a lifetime mortgage. My flat (one of 5) is a conversion. The first conversation from the house Edwardian was in 1977 and the extension to accommodate a further 2 flats - including mine was in 1986. We have a leasehold with a shared freehold. I was told I met the criteria, had the valuation and mortgage offer etc. now the lender’s solicitors are asking if the property complies with UKFML 5.8.1 which reads as conversion properties can’t get lifetime mortgages?
