• Mortgage Offer Reduced

By Guest on 03rd Feb 2019

Halifax had agreed to port my mortgage on the condition my IVA was settled. They offered £220,000 on told me to find a house. I made an offer on a £350,000 house with £130,000 deposit. Midway through completion underwriters have said without reason we have changed our mind and now will only loan me £140,000. I've made a complaint through there complaints team who are slowly looking at what's gone wrong. They seem to think it could be because I asked for a payment break in November 2018.They will listen to the telephone call as I was not advised at the time of the adverse effect this would have on a new mortgage. Problem also is time is not on my side as I have a few weeks left until completion. Any advice going forward would be appreciated.

We advise you contact a mortgage adviser rather than a conveyancer for advice on mortgages.
