• Advice Re. Remortgage And Management Of A Leasehold Flat

By Guest on 05th May 2020

I would greatly appreciate some advice regarding how to manage my property.

The property is a new build leasehold flat in Sale M33 7JW recently valued at £185-190K and was bought 2 years ago using a 20% loan from the Help to Buy scheme.
At the moment the mortgage is under joint ownership with myself and my ex-wife. I am in the process of remortgaging it into my name only and this has been approved by my lender. I am now looking for solicitors to manage the process.
I have been offered a job overseas from August and would like to know what my options are re this property.

Would I be able to rent it out using an agency to manage the property?

If this is not an option, do you know how I can be in a position to have someone else in this property by August?

Subject to any restrictions in the lease and mortgage conditions governing letting the property out, you could do so. Alternatively, you could market it for sale - entirely up to you. It sounds like you will want to complete a transfer of the property into your sole name and remortgage it first, and you would need a conveyancer for that.
