My wife and I recently separated. I thought the house was owned as joint tenants but the title deed has the phrase RESTRICTION: No disposition by a sole proprietor or the registered estate (except a trust corporation) under which capital money arises is to be registered unless authorized by an order of the court’. The date next to it is the same as the date we purchased the house so has this been changed without my knowledge?

This means you were registered as tenants in common. If the date is the same as the date of registration of your purchase, it was done when you purchased not subsequently.
