    my parents separated in 2005 and my father stayed in the house and my mother purchased another. She was left a house by her parents which I am in the process of buying and her solicitor has said that before she sells the house her name needs removing from the land registry for my fathers address. Is this correct?

    From what you state above that does not sound correct - she would not need to sell one house to sell another. It would only have an impact from an SDLT perspective if she was buying a property. However, there could be other taxes involved or other matters which you have not mentioned which affect the transaction. I suggest you rely on the advice provided by your solicitor.
