    My solicitor who I gained probate with hold my late mother's deeds, I am sole beneficiary and executor, they will not release the deeds to me, is this correct?

    If you are the executor under a will you can ask the deeds pertaining to that property to be released to you (unless they are held under a contract for example under a mortgage and the lender holds the deeds).

    In your case, unless there is a valid reason why not (for example if you have not paid their fees and they are exercising a lien, or you have not evidenced your identity to them) they should release the deeds to you on request.

    Thank you, they have released them now, it was an officious secretary who thought she knew the law better than the solicitor.
