I informed my buyer's solicitor that I would be acting for myself and she is refusing to work with me as I am not with a firm of solicitors. Can she do this?

Everyone is entitled to self-represent if they wish.

However, everyone is also entitled to buy or not buy as they wish. She can charge her client more if you are self-representing, and she may have warned her client about the risks and her client decided not to proceed. It should be her client (the buyer) making the decision though, not her.

I have encountered this.Tell the buyer that if they want to purchase your property they should employ a solicitor who will deal with you.
