• Transfer Property To My Brother

By Guest on 03rd Sep 2020

I have a property which is worth around 1 Million which I do not reside in. I would like my brother or Father to become a joint tenant in the property as my health has deteriorated. The property is not mortgaged, I would like to know if CGT and Inheritance Tax would be liable if I do a Joint Tenancy with my brother or father.

If you are joint tenants on a property then yes it would still be within your estate for inheritance tax. With regard to CGT I would advise you consult an accountant - they may be able to assist you with further tax planning too.
