• Removing A Charge From Family On A Property

By Guest on 18th Mar 2024

My father "gifted" me a sum when I bought my ex out of my property and this was put as a charge on my property. He would now like the charge to be removed and the whole property to be in my name. What forms do we need to complete and do we need a conveyancer to process this for us?

Assuming the charge was a "REGISTERED CHARGE", your father will need to complete and sign a DS1 and an ID1. The DS1 is the document that HM Land Registry require to remove the charge and an ID1 (which will need to be completed in the presence of a solicitor) is required where a party is unrepresented. You will need to submit the DS1 and ID1 with form ID2
