my husband and I have been separated for 1o years and now want to transfer his equity in thou house to me, we have extended the mortgage and it is all in my name to cover his share. my solicitor has done my paperwork as part of the new mortgage but he needs his id verified for the transfer but doesn't have a solicitor, can't find one who will just verify id unless registered to act on his behalf- how much will this cost?

Most solicitors, accountants and notaries will certify ID for anything between £20-£100.

Alternatively they may complete an ID1 identification form (if acceptable to your solicitor). Our standard fee is £100 but this varies from one place to another. I suspect he just needs to try a few more firms to find one that will.
