• Council House Transfer Equity To My Son

    Hi i am a british citizen residing in uk i have a council house which i purchased on discount on 2014 and made a contract with council for 10 years the estate lease registered on my name well as per contract with the council i need permission if i want to transfer or sale the estate before 10 years so i just made a request to council to transfer equity to my son who is a foriegner living in another country in europe the council refuse my request stating that as per housing act 1985 i cannot transfer estate to my son because he is not living with me and is required to live atleast 12 months before transfer. So can you please guide me what can i do now.

    Ask son to live with you for 12 months if he wants the house, then transfer it to him after he has been residing there for 12 months. Or wait the full 10 years then transfer it.
