    It depends. If you lodge an application to remove a restriction with consent from the beneficiary of that restriction it could be done within a couple of weeks.

    If you do not have consent, they will write to the beneficiary and ask if they object. I think they might have recently started doing this in all cases, in fact. This means they wait a month or so for a response, so it would take about 6 weeks to remove.

    If you're not lodging the application (for example if a lender is removing its restriction) then however long it takes the lender. Most banks achieve this within a couple of weeks. Some entities, like Help To Buy, can take about 2 months.

    Timescales also vary depending how busy HM Land Registry is at present. Best thing to do is give HM Land Registry a call and ask them how long they are presently taking.
