• Lean To Conservatory

By Guest on 29th Nov 2020

We had a lean to conservatory built on to our dining room at the rear of our bungalow in 1996. At the same time the fitters removed the door and window between the two rooms. We also had a kitchen fitted in lieu of the dining room which is now open to the conservatory. Looking back I don’t recall building regulations approval ever being mentioned and also whether it was required. Could this flag up problems when we eventually come to sell, and if so what would be the options in solving this..?

It sounds like building regulations may have been required, depending on what was actually carried out. However, it's the building regulations at the time that would have been relevant. As the works are over 20 years old you may get away without paying for one, otherwise most buyers will accept an indemnity policy (a one-off payment usually about £100 or less) in lieu of building regulations.
