• Conservatory Built Over A Sewer Pipe....

By Guest on 09th Dec 2020

My lean to conservatory was built 24 years ago. It was built over a sewer pipe which is approx 1 metre deep, the inspection cover/access to the sewer is approx 1 metre away from the conservatory. This pipe is parallel to the back of my property and also appears to serve the property’s either side of me. Just wondering if this will cause an issue when I come to sell. I know there are new rules in force ref building over a sewer which I believe came into force in 2011.

Possibly - if it was built without a buildover agreement then you may find a buyer requests an indemnity policy.

Ok thank you. But I understand that build over permission wasn’t required before 2011 when sewers changed from private ownership to public ownership. Mine was built in 1996.
