• Access To My Property For Fire Vehicles No Longer Meets Building Regulations

By Guest on 04th Apr 2016

I moved in to my current property when it was new in April 2005. It was given planning permission in 2002 , and was registered with NHBC in 2003. The NHBC registration was completed in 2005 , just after we moved in . I have recently found out that the width of the driveway now falls outside building control regulations . Is this likely to impact the resale value of the property ?

No. Changes to building regulations happen regularly and are not retrospective so provided the property complied with the regulations in place at the time it was built the local authority cannot take enforcement action. Even if it didn't comply at the time most buyers would be happy to accept insurance to cover the breach at a one off cost of around £100
