    is indemnity insurance bad? does this mean the house could have something wrong with it ?

    It means there is a defect which is covered by the indemnity policy. Your conveyancer will explain it to you but rest assured a large number of cases (perhaps as many as 10%) end up with an indemnity policy at some point. Find out what the indemnity is for as there could be any number of different reasons.
