• Indemnity For Failed Search

    Following an environmental search which brought up an issue of the land being potentially contaminated due to previously being landfill, we have been advised to accept indemnity insurance which is valid for 10 years. My concern is what happens after 10 years or when we sell the house. Should I worry or is this an acceptable risk?

    It is perfectly possible, for a reasonable price, to obtain cover "in perpetuity", that is to say forever. I cannot see that the risk that is being insured will end in 10 years, You should push for cover in perpetuity,
