• Divorced And Buying The Freehold: 2 Names To One

    I'm divorced and was awarded the house in the financial settlement (court order). I have a set time to remove my exs name from the mortgage and deeds.

    The house is leasehold (we are both named on the lease). I've purchased the freehold and the lease holders have sent me a TR1 form to sign to send to land registry. However, my exs name has also been included as a "transferee".

    Can I buy the freehold in my sole name from a joint lease?

    I have the house on the market to downsize so the mortgage & deeds will be sorted to my name only when this happens. I'm assuming purchasing the freehold in my name only if different to the title deeds?
