• Buying The Leasehold

By Guest on 13th Feb 2017

Hi. I have been in my house for 13 years and for the last 2 I have written to the leaseholder when paying my ground rent to ask about the possibility of buying the lease. They do not respond but only demand payment. Not sure how to progress if they won't respond.

I think perhaps you mean that you want to buy the freehold (if you are paying ground rent you already own the lease). Having owned the property for more than two years you can force the landlord to sell you the freehold. If he is ignoring you then speak to a solicitor who specialises in landlord and tenant law
