• Proof Of Funds Before An Offer

By Guest on 06th Feb 2016

Hello. I understand that before making an offer to a seller, the estate agent requires proof of funds. We are being given the full amount for a flat by my mother-in-law, who is in America. Can the funds be transferred on the same day as the offer is made, or do the funds need to be in our account for a fixed amount of time before an offer is made?
    Thanks very much!

You just need to get proof from your mother-in-law - usually by way of a few bank statements to show that the money is there.

From a conveyancing point-of-view you will need to have your mother-in-law fill in gift forms and produce a number of statements that show where the funds originated from - not just that she has the money in her account.
