• Developer Selling Shared Land After 20 Years

By Guest on 27th Mar 2018

We live next door to a small housing estate. When the estate was built, some small patches of grass were left for aesthetic reasons. They are not heavily used. 20 years has now passed since the development was built , and the developer is selling on the small packets of grass land. We have been offered the chance to buy one, which is next to our garden.
If anyone else purchased it and built on it, it would ruin our property's appeal.
If we bought it, I am assuming we would then be liable to maintain it, and for insurance, and that we are probably not allowed to extend our garden into it. If we could extend our garden into it, it would be great.
How can I be sure if we would be allowed to extend our garden into it? How can I be sure if anyone else would have the rights to build anything on it, since this is the most important thing for us?
