• Conditional Or Unconditional Contract For Property Bought Off Plan

Is a standard contract for a property bought off plan considered to be an unconditional contract, or a conditional one dependent on the property eventually being built?

The completion date should be "on notice" rather than fixed which means that once the property is built and signed off as fit for occupation by building control and the new home warranty provider the seller will serve a notice to complete giving you (typically) 10 working days to complete. You should also negotiate a long stop date, being a date by which you can cancel the contract if the property isn't ready
