• Can The Buyers' Solicitor Refuse To Deal With Me?

By Guest on 27th Jun 2017

I am selling a freehold registered title to purchasers with nothing to sell and I am not buying another property. The solicitor acting for the buyers has stated that "if you are not appointing a solicitor to deal with the sale of your property we can only deal with you direct if there is no mortgage to redeem on completion". I have never had this problem before and am not aware of any change in the law justifying this comment; am I missing something?

I am having a similar problem, the sellers solicitor refusing to deal with myself. It is a cash purchase of a free hold property, I contacted the vendors solicitor to check they were happy to deal with me. Then after searches etc have been done they change their mind. Then they start making inferences about the legitimacy of my funds. Also state if I make a mistake in the process they may be liable for my failure to ask the correct questions Then falsely state I can not verify my identity without a solicitor.
All they want is a closed shop and are prepare to lie and manipulate to maintain it. Thats from a profession that is meant to hold a high threshold of integrity!
