• Leasehold/ Freehold Issues

My house is freehold but there is an old lease that has not been terminated correctly related to it. The Land registry will not remove it and so the house is unsaleable as the named person still has a claim to it. If I can find out whether the person named is now deceased would surviving relatives still have an claim to the lease.

Try a tracing agent to locate that person.

Check if the lawyer that acted for you on the purchase whether they correctly advised you of the existence of the lease and its implications.

Potentially apply to court for removal of the lease.
