• Combining Deeds?

By Guest on 22nd Oct 2019

My parents have the deeds to the house they live in purchased 50 years ago and separate deeds for a large plot of land adjoining the house bought 35 years ago. There is no debt on either. Is it possible to combine the deeds so that there is only one set of deeds for both?

You can apply to the Land Registry to merge the titles. This can be done at their discretion. They are presently overworked so in most cases will refuse the application. Having the house and land on separate titles has no effect on your ownership of the property and indeed if you one day decided to sell off the land separately could actually be beneficial having it already split.
