• Are There Any Financial Implications Of Doing A Transfer Of Equity When No Money Is Exchanged

By Guest on 23rd Feb 2018

My mum put my name on the deeds of her flat several years ago, but no money was exchanged and there is no mortgage. I am now looking to have my name removed on the same principle (without any money being exchanged) so that I can buy my own place without being liable for second-rate SDLT. Are there any financial implications of doing this?

You'll need to pay capital gains tax, for starters.

Capital Gains Tax will only apply if you already own another property which is your main residence. If you lived here then no problem.
