The Land Registry is the government department responsible for maintaining records of all registered land in England & Wales. As registration has been compulsory in all areas following a change of ownership since 1998 (and for much longer in many areas) most land is now registered.

The information held at Land Registry is a matter of public record and there are several ways in which members of the public can gain access. It is possible to visit the regional Land Registry office in person and inspect the information, a postal application can be made using a standard form or very limited information can be gained electronically. It should be noted that this information is limited to a copy of the register of title which is not an Official Copy, i.e. it is not guaranteed to be accurate. The only way to obtain Official Copies of the register, or any copy of associated documents such as leases or conveyances, electronically is to order via the Portal service. this either means opening a credit account with the Land Registry or using a third party supplier of Land Registry Documents.

Land-registry-documents.co.uk, our sister site, is just such a third party supplier. By keeping our overheads down we are able to offer some of the most competitive prices in the market.
