• Can I Take My Fathers Name Of Mortgage By Transfer Of Equity Or Gift Using Your DIY Kit

By Guest on 08th Jun 2015

    Hi,

I have a joint mortgage with my father on a property worth £150K with £30K equity

Can I use the DIY kit to transfer equity or as gift to take my fathers name of the mortgage?

I have asked the lender (Oakwood) and they have said that a new mortgage application is required to put in my name only. Are they correct or can I use the transfer as gift or equity forms?

    Thanks

They are correct I'm afraid. A solicitor will need to be instructed to protect
Oakwood's interest and you will be expected to pay the fees so they might as well act for you also
