• Does The Freeholder Get Notified Of The Change In Ownership?

By Guest on 06th Oct 2017

I received a letter at my house addressed to the previous owner but I noticed it related to the property so I did open it. It was the bill for the ground rent which was nominal but late payment fees had been added with a threat of legal action for non payment because obviously they were writing to the wrong person. Wouldn't the conveyancing process have informed the freeholder of the change in ownership and therefore I'm not liable for the late payment as it is their error?
