By Guest on 24th Nov 2016

I own a property at present in sole name, my boyfriend is purchasing his own home in his sole name. Does he have to pay the extra dwelling supplement if I move into the property in the future or never

    No
    (a) SDLT is cskculated as at the time of purchase
    (b) he is just your boyfriend

If you and your boyfriend were married or in a civil partnership then he would need to pay the higher rate but as you are not then he will not. It won't make a difference in respect of this transaction if you subsequently marry or you move in with him as it's only the circumstances at the point of completion that are relevant.
