• Do I Need Retrospective Planning Permission And Building Control Consent?

By Guest on 03rd Jan 2017

HI, I own a Leasehold flat with 1/24th ownership of the freehold. In 2009 I had a balcony and rear door/window combination installed in place of just a window. The managing agents have now informed me I must obtain retrospective planning permission and building consent control to retain these. Is this correct and what do I need to do to obtain this? Thanks.

It depends on the terms of the lease but probably. Planning consent, if it was ever needed, is deemed granted after 4 years if there has been no attempt by the council to take enforcement action so the management company shouldn't be pursuing this bot as for building regs approval, you'll need to contact building control at the local authority and have them inspect
