• Higher Rate SDLT Additional Dwelling

By Guest on 08th Jan 2018

    Hi

My partner is looking to buy a property however because he's self employed he can't secure a big enough mortgage and I have offered to take out a mortgage with him.

I am not planning to be on the deed as I will not contribute to the deposit - although I may consider putting a charge against the property if I contribute to mortgage payments.

I own another house with my ex partner and am still registered on the title and mortgage. We also have a buy to let which I will be looking to sell as soon as it comes out of the early repayment charge period.

Does taking out a mortgage with my current partner make me liable for the higher rate SDLT?
