• Bank Mandates Survey In Our Name

By Guest on 28th Nov 2016

Hi. We are trying to buy a house which has historic subsidence (has been dealt with). Our mortgage provider (Halifax) have mandated that we need a full structural survey, so we asked the vendors to provide it as they did not disclose the subsidence originally. However, if they pay for it the survey is in their name, but Halifax are also mandating that the survey is in our name. This basically means that we will have two surveys (one to make sure it is worth buying, and then one to satisfy Halifax).

Can anyone please explain why it matters whose name the survey is under? Is there anything we can do to convince Halifax that this doesn't make any sense? thanks
