• Transfer Of Land Entry In The Title Register

By Guest on 04th Oct 2019

We are in the process of buying a house and have just discovered that part of the garden doesn't appear to be included within the boundary of any plans. There is an entry in the register dated 1996 referring to a transfer of land between two named parties, one of whom we know to be a previous owner of our property. A filed plan shows that this transfer of land refers to the part of the garden in question. However, our solicitor indicates that this transfer only grants us a right of way over this piece of land, not ownership. We are trying to find out who the other party named on this entry is, in order to find out more about it. Our solicitor did have one aerial plan showing a small white section of land apparently belonging to none of the surrounding properties - which happens to be the piece of land in question? Trying to get this resolved as we were given the impression that this was part of our garden and is behind a gate and included as if part of our property. There is very little information included in the entry so I wanted to know if there are more detailed versions kept anywhere, or how we might find out who the other named party is on the entry?

The Land Registry title register is the official record of property ownership. They do not keep "more details versions" of the register. You may wish to review the historic title deeds if you can obtain copies, or ask the neighbours.
