If the title plan isn't registered with land registry is there anyway to proceed to completion with some form of indemnity?

What do you mean when you say that the title plan is not registered? Do you mean that the title as a whole is unregistered? If the land has been registered then there will be a filed plan. If it hasn't then indemnity isn't appropriate but rather you would need the deeds. If the seller has lost the deeds then he will need to make an application to register the property based on adverse possession before transferring it to you.
