• Removing A Name From The Freehold

By Guest on 07th Oct 2015

8 years ago, my husband paid a solicitor to arrange for the removal of his ex partners name from the freehold on our house. We still have the original paperwork and presumed everything was fine. Recently we have tried to remortgage and have discovered via the land registry that the solicitor did not fill in the paperwork correctly and her name is still on the freehold. The solicitor in question has closed his business so we have no comeback with him. The ex of my husband has agreed to meet with him to sign the paperwork again but she is asking that we pay for a solicitors letter to confirm that her name has been removed. Are we under any obligation to provide this for her?

    cannot see why not.
after all she did what was asked once and it is no fault of hers that your solicitor failed
I think it is perfectly reasonable and in fact very generous of her she could ask for money to ne compensated for her time
