• Building A 2nd House On Land Purchased With Original House

    Hi there, we own a house (we’re 10 years in to a 20 year mortgage) which has a piece of land adjacent big enough for a house. The house together with the land is leasehold and we pay approx £1.80 per year ground rent. With the above in mind, is there anything stopping us obtaining planning permission and building a house on the land. I guess the first step is separating the land from the house on the deeds so we can sell the original house to fund the build of the 2nd house? How straight forward is this to do? We don’t live or plan to live in either house, the original house currently has tenants in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks
